Cold weather and coziness

As the weather has begun it's random changing from warm to absolutely freezing, my first notion is to hide away inside where it's warm and cozy. This after all, is one of the great pleasures of fall and winter. So if you are looking for something to do whilst ensconced in the snugness of your homes, the Library just got some new DVD's in that will help wile away the hours. For those of you who have been catching bits and pieces of the Ken Burns series airing currently on PBS, The War, we now have it. This in-depth, fascinating look at WWII and how it affected home-life in America is a must-see and one you won't easily forget.
For another television series that you may have missed this summer, the equally enthralling and absolutely fascinating series Planet Earth which aired on the Discovery Channel. It doesn't matter if you are a "nature channel" watcher or not, you will love this! And since we are on the topic of epic film watching, the Library has also recently acquired the Collector's Edition of Titanic, complete with an additional 45 minutes of 'never before seen' deleted scenes (and you thought the original version was long). Don't worry, the extra scenes are on a separate disc, for those of us who are not true fans.
So, if you are looking for something to do this weekend while staying warm, or hiding from the masses of trick-or-treaters next week, stop by and check these or others in our movie selection out. Also, if you haven't done so yet, it's a great time to pick up a Jodi Picoult book for the weekend. The student reviews so far have been fantastic!
