Oh... the weather outside is frightful...

Just this week, we've had a meteor shower, a lunar eclipse, 3 earthquakes and now more snow. It's enough to make some question the coming end of the world, especially if you've watched the environmental thriller "The day after tomorrow." Or if you are an astronomer (real or amateur) then you probably thought it was a fantastic week. Here's a picture of this weeks eclipse. There's a great website that posts an astronomy picture of the day that is fun and definitely worth checking out. There is always a lot if speculation and doomsday theories when it comes to weather, the environment, what causes these changes. We have some great books in the Library about weather and some really good new books about environmental issues and what you can do on an individual level to make changes. The best way to make a difference in the world on any issue is to be informed. Don't rely on what you've heard or alway thought was truth, but dig a little deeper and find out the true facts. That's what we (the Library) is here for. Another great source for those of you at a distance is the netlibrary link our home page. There are great books there on any current topic for research and information.
Though slightly off topic here, I'm going to make the leap from science to science-fiction. For those fans out there, I'm very pleased to announce the long awaited new book from sci-fi author Ray Bradbury is here! "Farewell Summer" is his newest and the sequel to "Dandelion Wine." I've not yet had a chance to read it, but will let you know as soon as I do what I think. In the meantime, there's an available copy in our Library today!
