It's not easy being Green.

April 22nd is Earth Day! There seems to be an influx of the "Go green" movement these days, you see it, hear it, and everyone knows there's something to it, but how involved are we really? We live on a beautiful and great planet and taking care of it is the responsibility of us all. So, what do we do about it? There are mountains of information on global warming, the green-house effect, climate change, toxic emissions, recycling. Few people actually understand what those terms mean and how they apply to us. The best thing to do.... read. There are articles, books, videos galore and even classes here on campus that will help you to understand just what is going on with our planet and how you can help. Step one: Recycle. Not just your pop-cans and water bottles, but your school supplies, used notebook paper, clothes you no longer wear, to larger items. If you don't know where, find out. If there aren't recycle receptacles around, ask for them. A great place for other items is the Phi Theta Kappa organization here on campus collecting used books, furniture, computers, canned foods. There are so many ways to give and every time we give without purchasing something new, we are recycling what we have. Everything is a start. Students at campuses all across the country are getting involved in making their world a better place. You can too. For more ways to make a difference in your community check out the Earth Day display in the Library or the EarthDay website or check out the following links. In celebration of Earth Day this week, if you come up to the Library, we'll give you free chocolate! It doesn't get any better than that. So stop by, and let us know what you think... about ways to recycle, your favorite books, blog posts, whatever...we want to hear it.
