My religion is very simple.

I love this quote from the Dalai Lama, "My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness." On campus this month, we are honoring world religions. In respect to that our October Author of the Month is the Dalai Lama. The Dalai Lama is a great author and speaker who has written books on several issues as well as his personal testimony, and that of his people. One such book is The wisdom of Forgiveness which speaks to each of us and our personal struggles with forgivness and compassion. He writes in a very light and easy to read style that anyone can enjoy. We also are featuring his book "Ethics for the new millenium" which provides wisdom on many topics and is applicable to anyone. These and others are featured this month in the Library. If you are interested in more information on the current or 14th Dalai Lama, click here. You can read many of his writings and speeches.

In addition to featuring works by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, we are also featuring works on Buddhism. In the Library we have several books on the Buddhist faith, its history, the art and lifestyle of Zen, and more.
This week TVCC students will be able to listen to Reverend Fujimoto of the Idaho/Oregon Buddhist Temple here in Ontario. He will be speaking at a free event Wednesday, October 8th at 1 p.m., here in the Weese building. If you at all can, we encourage you to attend.

For the week, I'll leave you with another Dalai Lama quote. We look forward to seeing you soon.

"Compassion is not religious business, it is human business, it is not luxury, it is essential for our own peace and mental stability, it is essential for human survival. "
