And so it begins...

January makes me think of this rather ominous line from "The Lord of the Rings" full of foreboding and hope. I don't know why, maybe it's the strange need to make resolutions or do things better than we did before. Maybe it's all the possibilities that come with something new, a beginning. Yet it seems that before we are more than a couple of weeks into it, all efforts to do things different have fallen by the wayside. Maybe a good resolution for this year would be to live as you want to live. Be the person that you wish you were. Now, this isn't meant to sound dismal or depressing, because you are here. You are already doing something good, working hard towards a goal, and each one of you registered for classes and beginning the journey toward the end of the term. So, Welcome to those new students who have joined us for the first time and a hearty welcome back to those of you returning. Brave souls, all of you who have been trudging through the ice and freezing winter wind for something as fantastic as an education. Way to go.
To start the term, I wanted to remind you that the Library is still offering the free Mini-Research Class which we highly recommend. If you haven't taken it in one of your other classes yet, the times are posted on the Library webpage and are the same every week. Come by any of the days offered and we would be happy to help you. Even if you have taken it, a refresher is often really helpful as well. Remember that if you can't find what you need in the Library, come ask any of our cheerful staff, call us or email us at library@tvcc.cc and we will answer your questions. We are always available. Also, check out the WorldCat link on the Library webpage and you will find a lot of helpful research, links into other libraries, more book recommendations and help than you could imagine and a multitude of other things. If you find something there that you would like, let us know and we'll get it in for you. We look forward to seeing you or hearing from you soon. And from there... it begins.
