This week's Movie Night

As promised, this week we will be hosting a free movie night.  Thursday @ 6 p.m. in Weese 110.
We have a great film that just came out in time for poetry month to show you. It is not an artsy film about the quite lives of poets.  It's a film about students making their voices heard, exercising their freedom of speech, shouting, swearing, and in general, fighting for the right to do so.  Warning: there is a fair amount of swearing in this film, so it may not be for the easily offended.  However, the message and the challenge this film presents is worth watching.
What does this have to do with poetry?  Everything.  A poem is not just words someone wrote a thousand years ago.  A poem is an expression.  Everyone is a poet.  It is simply capturing in words how you feel.  We would all agree that no one should have the right to judge how you feel about a topic or your right to express that.  Come, watch the film with us this Thursday and find out about students who were told they could not speak out about something that they disagreed with.
After the film, we will have an open discussion time for those interested.  We will also give you all the details on next week's give-a-ways and events.  See you all there!
