Book , Movie, or Both?

I mentioned last week the fierce competition for the Author of the month spot, and felt I had to let you know about the runner-up. This is in honor of a movie coming out in just two weeks, Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Love in the Time of Cholera. This has been a favorite of mine since the first time that I read it. It's been touted as "one of the greatest love stories of all time," and at the same time is very real, gritty and human. Starting much the same as any other love story... boy meets girl, they fall in love, and they live happily every after... oh wait, actually she decides to marry someone else. Famous for his twists and turns, Garcia Marquez is one of the great 20th century authors with many books to his name. His books have been read and taught for decades, and never failed to move readers. If love stories are not your cup of tea, there's more to choose from in his collection of works which range from sci-fi, to the very strange, romantic, intellectual, or historical non-fiction. I highly recommend Love in the Time of Cholera, and there's just enough time to read the book before the movie comes out. Stop in and check out a copy, or another of his books in the Library. In case you are curious, here's the trailer to get you excited!
My question...
Do you prefer to read the book first, watch the movie first, or do you not watch movies based on your favorite books? Let me know what you think. I'd love to hear your comments!
