Teacher Picks!

As promised, we are featuring one of your very own teachers in our pick of the month spot. The anticipation is over, the person with the honor for December.... (drum roll please).... Marc Wilson! Yes, I hear the cheering in the background. Well I will say this, if you are looking for a good book to read over the break, he has given us some wonderful choices. I asked Mr. Wilson for his top ten favorite reads, and he gave me a list of 11 books titled, The Only Books Worth Reading: A Dianoetic List. (Dianoetic, meaning intellectual...don't worry, I had to look it up too.) So, here's his list:
1. Light in August by William Faulkner
2. Beneath the Wheel by Hermann Hesse
3. Candide by Voltaire
4. Death Comes for the Archbishop by Willa Cather
5. Ironweed by William Kennedy
6. Native Son by Richard Wright
7. Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy 8. Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman
9. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
10. The Universal Baseball Association by Robert Coover
11. The Neverending Story by Michael Ende

An excellent selection with something for everyone, a little romance, a little drama, poetry, philosophy, and fantasy. All of these books are available through the Library, so stop by and pick one up! Perfect for your Christmas break reading. Thank you Mr. Wilson for sharing these with us.
Also, if you need another class for your Winter schedule, Mr. Wilson is teaching a History of Film class during the Winter term that sounds like a fantastic class to take. It's Wednesday evenings, consisting of watching and discussing movies. Sign up, if you haven't yet!
Now, Finals Week is upon us! Don't forget to bring in all your Library materials by Wednesday. We will be open during the break with the exception of the week of Christmas. Come in and catch up on some reading or movie watching. Good luck this week, and have a great break!
