And the winner is.....

No, we are not talking about the closing of awards season, but the much coveted honor of the Library's Author of the Month spot... which goes to...
John Le Carre. Le Carre is the author of nineteen intriguing novels chocked full of mystery, espionage, love, and generally a message for society. He has long been an author that could move readers. As quoted by Nigel Williams (writer for the Observer) after reading Le Carre, "This book breathes life, anger and excitement." Several of his novels in fact have traversed from page to screen both big and television. From "Russia House" (which earned Michelle Pfiefer a Golden Globe nom.) to the fantastic mini-series "Tinker, tailor, soldier, spy" starring the equally fantastic Alec Guinness and receiving an Emmy nomination. More recently, we've seen "The Constant Gardner" grace the Academy Awards earning Rachel Weisz an Oscar, among other nominations. Enough about the movies though, the books are wonderful. Something different than the usual fiction read that really challenges the reader morally, intellectually, and your world perspective. He is not afraid to hit on politics and all the ins and outs of the workings of world government. Nor does he hold back when in saying something that should be said if the subject is touchy. In the end, intriguing and enthralling are the words I think fit his writing best. All of these mentioned books are available today in the Library as well as his brand new "Absolute Friends" and others. For something new that will keep you on the edge of your seat and challenge you as well, John Le Carre is a great choice!
