Queen of Murder

March has come and the term is winding to a close. Before many of you disappear for some much needed relaxation over the break, we wanted to share our Author of the month pick with you. This woman has written about 70 novels, numerous short stories and screenplays. She has become synonymous with the term mystery novel, with few other writers becoming her equal. Who is this woman you ask? Why Agatha Christie, of course. Agatha Christie began her writing career at the young age of 24. Her husband had left to fight in the war, so between her shifts as a nurse in the local hospital, Christie began writing detective novels. Her first was "The Mysterious affair at Styles" which introduced her most famous detective, Hercule Poirot. Christie wrote over 30 Poirot mysteries, some of which have been made into movies such as "Murder on the Orient Express." Soon after that, Agatha Christie began to write stories featuring her newest detective, Miss Jane Marple. Christie novels are easy to read and enjoyable for anyone who loves a good mystery. Her novels are timeless and classic, appealing to generations of readers. She is truly one of our favorite readers and the Library staff heartily recommends any of her books if you are looking for something new to try. We have many of her novels, plays and short story collections. Come by and check out one or two or three. We guarantee you'll like them.
