This Week in the Library!
This week, the Library has a fantastic program coming. The Library is hosting a free presentation by author/poet Michael Czarnecki. Here's a little bit about Michael and this week's presentation.
Michael Czarnecki is a poet, oral memoirist and small press publisher (FootHills Publishing, in its 26th year) who lives in the hills of New York State, in the upper Susquehanna Watershed. From his home on Wheeler Hill he travels out on the poetic road across America. He has had nine chapbooks and books published including "Never Stop Asking for Poems" and "Twenty Days on Route 20," a haibun account of a journey on America's longest road. More information about Michael can be found at www.foothillspublishing.com/poetguy
The performance covers the time period from John Kennedy's assassination in 1963, through 1975, when he became part of a rural community in the hills of New York State. Along the way Michael suffered through battles of conscience, incurred the wrath of the family, participated in college demonstrations, hitchhiked 30,000 miles, backpacked in the mountains and experienced the usual late-teen, young adult joys and sorrows of life. All of this is set against the cultural and historical happenings of the era. Michael will share his entertaining and moving story of an ordinary person who happened to come of age during this unique time period in our recent history.
This event is free and open to any who would like. It will be this Friday, June 3rd at 2 p.m. in the Library. Michael is also giving a reading from his most recent book as well as a poetry reading at the Ontario Community Library on Thursday, June 2nd at 6 p.m.
We look forward to seeing you there.
